OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon's final day at the UW-Oshkosh Tournament ended with two losses, as the Red Hawks fell in three sets to both Martin Luther College and to the host UW-Oshkosh Titans, despite winning the first set against both teams.
In their first match of the day, the Red Hawks (7-8) defeated Martin Luther (6-3) 25-14 in the first set, before losing the final three, 21-25, 16-25, 17-25). Ripon saw two players finish the match with double figure digs, as
Karlye Wehner and
Emily Gary recorded 14 and 11, respectively. Wehner was also second on the team in digs with 13, while
Brianne Milroy led the team in that category with 17.
Abbi Williamson added 10 digs, to go along with a team-best 37 assists.
The Red Hawks concluded the day and the tournament against UW-Oshkosh (8-4) in a match that saw them win the first set, 25-22, before losing the final three, 16-25, 8-25, 23-25). Against the Titans, Gary led Ripon with 14 kills, followed by Wehner, who finished with 12. Williamson led the team in both digs (9) and assists (36), while Gary was also tops on the team in blocks with three (one solo).
Ripon will try to rebound next weekend, as they'll host their annual Ripon Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Red Hawks will play Lakeland and St. Norbert on the first day of that tournament at 4 and 8 p.m., respectively, at Wyman Gymnasium in Ripon.
