OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon's winning streak ended at five matches Friday afternoon, as the Red Hawks lost to both UW-Stevens Point and #22 Wartburg College in the first day of the UW-Oshkosh Tournament. Ripon dropped their first match of the day against the Pointers in four sets, losing 10-25, 15-25, 25-23, 16-25. The Red Hawks followed that up with a three-set loss to Wartburg by a score of 18-25, 22-25, 10-25.
In the day's first match, against UW-Stevens Point (8-3), the Red Hawks (7-6) were led by Karlye Wehner and Paige Buddenhagen, whom each finished with 10 kills. Wehner added nine digs, while they each finished with one of Ripon's four blocks in the contest. Abbi Williamson finished with 38 assists, while Brianne Milroy led the team with 15 digs.
Against #22 Wartburg (4-5), the Red Hawks were led by Maddie Koster, who finished with a team-high seven of Ripon's 19 kills. Williamson and Emily Gary added four kills apiece, while Williamson also registered a team-high 16 assists, to go along with one service ace, two digs and two blocks (one solo). Milroy's 13 digs again led the team.
The Red Hawks will continue in the UW-Oshkosh Tournament on Saturday, when they'll face Martin Luther College and UW-Oshkosh at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. All matches will be played at Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh, Wis.
