LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Ripon volleyball team started their conference season just about as well as they could, with a three-set victory on the road against Lake Forest College. The Red Hawks won the first set in convincing fashion, 25-13, before taking care of business in the final two as well, 25-21 and 25-17, respectively.
Ripon (9-11, 1-0 MWC) finished the match with a hitting percentage of .305.
Karlye Wehner led the team with 12 kills, while recording a hitting percentage of .407.
Emily Gary was second on the team with nine kills (.421 hitting pct.), while
Allison Barnes returned from injury to register seven kills.
Abbi Williamson led the Red Hawks with 23 assists, to go along with five kills and seven digs.
Lake Forest's Brittany Avonts led the Foresters (5-11, 0-1 MWC) with a match-high 13 kills, while Torie Pasiewicz and Victoria Drasler combined for 27 assists. Lake Forest managed just one total team block, while Ripon recorded three.
