Ripon Gets Shutout For Third Time in Four Games

Outplayed by Concordia-Chicago for much of Saturday's game, the Ripon College men's soccer team lost to the Cougars, 3-0, as they failed to possess the ball for much of the contest.

Concordia's first goal of the contest came in the 26th minute when Daniel Ortiz found the net. Brendan Mullane then doubled their lead in the 29th minute, before adding a second goal in the 56th minute to cap the scoring. Concordia also held the shots advantage, outshooting the Red Hawks 12-7.

Cameron Plantz recorded four saves for the Red Hawks, as he played the first 62 minutes. Cody Messerschmidt then came in to save one shot over the final 28 minutes. Concordia's Roberto Aragon saved three shots on the day, as he played all 90 minutes.

Ripon has now been outscored 12-2 in their first four games, including three shutouts. They will try to break their current four-game losing streak next Sunday when they'll host Edgewood College. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Prairie Field and can be seen live on http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/ripon.portal#.
