RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon women's basketball team was never in danger of losing Wednesday's game to Lawrence, as they led throughout, en route to a 60-36 victory over the Vikings. That marks Ripon's 14th consecutive win against Lawrence and is the seventh consecutive season that they have earned the season sweep.

The Red Hawks (6-9, 6-4 MWC) wasted no time, scoring the first seven points of the game, while holding Lawrence (3-11, 1-8 MWC) scoreless for nearly the first three minutes. Ripon's largest lead of the first half came with under nine minutes to play when a Chelsea Sorbo jumper put the Red Hawks up by 19. That lead would remain in double digits at the half, as the two teams headed to the locker rooms with Ripon leading by 13.

Ripon continued to pour it on in the second half, which began with a 23-4 run by the Red Hawks. Lawrence went scoreless for the first seven and a half minutes of the period, while their sixth point in the half didn't come until there were five minutes to play. Ripon finished the game shooting 50 percent (23-46) from the field, including 50 percent (7-14) from 3-point range., while Lawrence converted 35 percent (17-48) of their field goals.

Kacie Cullen and Sia Gonyo led the Red Hawks with 14 and 13 points, respectively, while combining to shoot 10-for-15 from the field and 6-for-10 from 3-point range. Sorbo added nine points off the bench, while Jill VanEperen posted seven points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Lawrence was led by Andrea Wilkinson's 11 points, while Patsy Kealey added nine points and a team-high four assists.

The win moves Ripon within one game of the fourth and final playoff seed with eight games to play. They will try to continue their winning ways on Saturday at Grinnell College.
