Red Hawks Earn 5-4 Victory Over Knox

RIPON, Wis. -
The Ripon women's tennis team earned their first victory of the year Saturday afternoon, defeating Knox College 5-4. The Red Hawks won their top four flights in singles play, while taking one of their three doubles matches.

In singles play, Madeline VandenHouten set the tone for the afternoon, winning her top flight match, 0-6, 6-4 (13-11). Courtney Olson followed suit at the second flight, winning, 6-1, 6-1, while Madeleine Salzer won her third flight match, 6-2, 6-2. Lucero Pena also earned a point for the Red Hawks with a 7-5, 6-0 victory at the number four flight.

In doubles play, Olson and Pena teamed up at the number two flight to win 9-8 (8-6).

Ripon's regular season will draw to a close on Sunday with a pair of home matches when the Red Hawks will play Monmouth and St. Norbert at 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively, at Larson Courts in Ripon.
