JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Red Hawks dropped their seventh consecutive game Sunday, losing 1-0 to Illinois College in a game that saw the Red Hawks record just two shots.
The only goal of the game came in the 14th minute when Josue Hernandez found the back of the net on a header for Illinois College (7-4-2, 3-1-1 MWC), thanks to an assist from Anthony Willard. From there, both defenses stepped up their games, as neither team scored in the final 75 minutes of the contest.
Cody Messerschmidt made five saves in goal for the Red Hawks (2-11-1, 0-7-0 MWC), facing 17 shots on the day.
The Red Hawks will take a step outside conference play next weekend, when they'll travel to the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday. That game will be played at 3:30 p.m. in Chicago.
