CHICAGO, Ill. - Ripon's men's soccer team held their own in Saturday's first half at Illinois Tech, but three second half goals helped Illinois Tech pull away for a 5-1 victory. Ripon was also outshot 20-4 in the contest, including 12-1 in the first period.

Rogelico Salcedo scored the first two goals of the game, giving Illinois Tech (9-3-1) a 2-0 lead 26 and a half minutes into the contest. Ripon cut that lead in half just before halftime when Nick Thillman scored his first goal of the season.

Illinois Tech broke the game wide open in the second half, scoring just nine minutes into the period on a goal by Inigo Palazon del Pi. They added two more goals later in the period from Hugo Hernandez and Tommy Gasienica.

James Saager and Cody Messerschmidt split time in goal for Ripon (2-12-1), combining for five saves.

The Red Hawks will resume their conference season on October 25 when they'll travel to Cornell College. That game will begin at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
