Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Three Second Half Goals Doom Red Hawks

RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with conference leading Knox College Saturday, but couldn't pull out a victory, losing 5-1 to the Prairie Fire in a game that saw Ripon trail by just a goal at halftime. Knox also outshot the Red Hawks, 23-7, including 16-4 in the first half.

Knox started the scoring in the 15th minute when Nathaniel Logie took a pass from Terence Lau for his seventh goal of the season. Five minutes later, Ripon knotted the score up at one when Mebrahtu Kasa netted his second goal of the year on assists from Josh Luna and Cameron Greene. That tie lasted just 30 seconds, as Lau got into the scoring act with an unassisted goal, his second on the year.

The second half began much like the first, with a goal by Logie, who scored his second of the game just 52 seconds into the second period thanks to an assist from Bernardo Gasperazzo. The scoring was capped later in the half with a pair of Jacob Ly goals, giving him three for the season.

Cody Messerschmidt saved 10 shots for the Red Hawks, as he and counterpart Sean Dockrell each played all 90 minutes. Dockrell finished the game with two saves.

Ripon will try to snap their current five-game losing streak on Sunday when they'll host Monmouth College. That game is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
