Box Score RIPON, Wis. - With a three set victory over Marian University Wednesday night, the Ripon volleyball team is off to their best start to a season (7-2) since winning nine of their first 10 matches during the 2002 season. The Red Hawks won all three sets by identical 25-14 scores, as they never trailed by more than four points in any set.
Katie Berrell led all players with 15 kills, as she was the only player on either team to record double-digit kills. She also posted a hitting percentage of .609, to go along with three block assists.
Emily Gary added six kills, seven digs and four block assists, while
Allison Barnes and
Paige Buddenhagen each posted four kills.
Abbi Williamson led the team in assists with 33, while recording three kills and a hitting percentage of .600.
Brianne Milroy led the team with 18 digs.
The Red Hawks totaled eight team blocks in the game, compared to two for the Sabres (4-6). Ripon also recorded at least 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .290 or higher in each set, while Marian failed to record a hitting percentage of more than .061 in any set.
Ripon will be in action again this weekend when they'll take part in the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic. Friday's matches will be against Finlandia and Martin Luther at 3:30 and 5:30, respectively, in Oshkosh, Wis.
