Box Score RIPON, Wis. - For the second time in their three games this season, Ripon's women's soccer team has scored at least six goals. They tallied eight Saturday afternoon in a shutout victory over Maranatha Baptist. They also held the advantage in shots, recording 37, while allowing just four.
Paige Birschbach was a one woman wrecking crew early on, as she notched the game's first two goals in the first 15 minutes of the first half, giving her three goals for the season.
Brandi Peltier, who assisted on one of those first two goals, got into the scoring action herself in the 27th minute with her fourth goal of the season on an assist by
Kaylee Tadych. Freshman
Jessica Ochocki added her second goal of the season in the 31st minute, thanks to an assist by
Donna Lohse, to give Ripon a 4-0 lead at halftime.
The second half started much like the first - with Ripon putting the ball in the net. Tadych was the first to do the honors in the second half, notching her third goal of the year in the 47th minute on an assist by
Alyssa Kennedy. Less than three minutes later,
Jamie Wegner got into the scoring action with the second goal of her career and first of the season, as Tadych recorded the assist. Tadych assisted on another goal nearly five minutes later when Pelter netted her second goal of the game. Freshman
Hannah Mahr capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 69th minute.
Ripon Goal Keeper
Sidney Blodgett recorded her 15th career shutout, which is the most in program history, and is her second shutout in three games this season. She saved two shots in her 90 minutes of work.
