Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Ripon women's soccer team completed quite the weekend Sunday afternoon with an 8-1 victory at Alverno College. That gives the Red Hawks 16 goals in the span of two days. They also held the advantage in shots (33-7) for the fourth time in as many games, while outshooting their opponent by 20 or more for the third time.
Despite their outstanding offensive performance, it was Alverno (0-3-0) who took the game's first lead when Jackie Vanderkolk found the back of the net three minutes into the contest. Ripon (3-1-0) knotted things up in the ninth minute on
Alyssa Kennedy's first goal of the year, assisted by
Paige Birschbach. Nearly 10 minutes later,
Brandi Peltier gave the Red Hawks their first and final lead with her sixth goal of the year on an assist from
Isabella Kohl. Kohl would later score a goal of her own off a corner kick with the assist going to
Morgan Johnson.
Danielle Senger and
Jessica Ochocki also scored goals in the first half, giving Ripon a 5-1 lead at halftime.
The Red Hawks didn't let up in the second half, as
Alexandra Jirik notched her first goal of the season just three and a half minutes into the period, thanks to Birschbach's second assist of the game and fifth of the season. Peltier added her second goal of the game less than two minutes later, giving her multiple goals in three of the team's four games.
Donna Lohse capped the scoring with her first goal of the year in the 89th minute.
Goal Keeper
Sidney Blodgett made four saves for the Red Hawks, while playing all 90 minutes. She has allowed just three goals in Ripon's four games this season.
The Red Hawks will try to keep things rolling on Thursday when they'll travel to Edgewood College. That game will begin at 5 p.m. in Madison, Wis.
