Concordia-Chicago Tops Red Hawks

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Ripon College women's soccer team lost to Concordia-Chicago Wednesday afternoon by a score of 2-1. The Cougars also out-shot the Red Hawks by an 18-6 margin, including 11-3 in the second half.

Concordia-Chicago (6-8-0) got the scoring started in the 12th minute when Sydney Fuller found the back of the net for the third time this season on an assist from Alisha Johnson. That lead lasted all of nine minutes before Paige Birschbach scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season for the Red Hawks (7-6-1). That moves Birschbach into a tie for sixth place in school history for career goals scored, while also moving her into a tie for fifth for career points (74).

After entering the second half tied at one, Concordia put the game away in the 61st minute on Natalie Weinhold's third goal of the season, on assists from Johnson and Gabby Garza.

Jessica Bykowski played the entire game at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks, making nine saves. Her counterpart, Ally Krajnak, recorded two saves for the Cougars.

Ripon will be in action again next week when they'll travel to Lawrence University on Tuesday. That game will begin at 7 p.m. in Appleton, Wis.
