GALESBURG, Ill. - The Ripon men's soccer team allowed four first half goals Saturday afternoon, en route to a 6-1 defeat to the Prairie Fire. Knox also held an advantage in shots by a 21-5 margin.
Knox (9-1-2, 4-1-0 MWC) got on the board first in the seventh minute when Nathaniel Logie scored his eighth goal of the season. Less than five minutes later, Logie scored for the second time in the game to double the Prairie Fire's lead. Abdulsalam Ogania and Phelipe Graske also got into the scoring action later in the half with one goal apiece.
Ripon (3-4-1, 0-4-0 MWC) scored their first and only goal in the 64th minute, off the foot of
Christian Navarro, who scored unassisted for his first goal of the year. Knox would add two more goals later in the half to put the game away.
Jimmy Amedeo and
James Saager combined to save seven shots, while Knox Goal Keeper Justin Dunn played all 90 minutes, making three saves.
The Red Hawks will try to turn things around on Sunday when they'll travel to Monmouth College. That game will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Monmouth, Ill.
