RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon College volleyball team continued to roll, winning their fifth match in a row Friday night with a four-set victory over Beloit College. That clinches the second seed in next weekend's Midwest Conference Tournament and gives Ripon it's best start to a conference season in program history (8-1). Ripon won the first set against the Buccaneers, 25-15, before losing the second, 22-25. The Red Hawks then put the match away by winning the final two sets, 25-13 and 25-9.,
Junior
Abbi Williamson entered the night needing 25 assists to break Ripon's career record. She exceeded that number with a match-high 36 assists, giving her the record with 2,738 career assists -- and counting. Williamson, who leads the MWC with 9.81 assists per set this season, also recorded four kills, seven digs and two blocks on the night. On senior night, it was seniors
Emily Gary and
Allison Barnes who led the team in kills, with 12 and 10, respectively. That duo also combined for two solo blocks and six block assists.
Katie Berrell added nine kills, while
Stacie Klika led the Red Hawks (11-12, 8-1 MWC) with 11 digs.
Beloit (4-19, 0-10 MWC) was led by Taylor Lewis' 10 kills. Breea Rogalla added a team-high 30 assists, while Abby Gessell led the Buccaneers with 13 digs.
The Red Hawks will play their final game of the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Lake Forest College, before battling St. Norbert in the semi-finals of the MWC Tournament on November 6 at 4:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
