RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon College women's basketball team saw their two-game winning streak snapped Friday night with a 67-36 loss to fifth-ranked UW-Oshkosh. The Red Hawks shot 29 percent (14-48) from the field, while UW-Oshkosh converted 45 percent (26-58) of their shots.
The game was tightly contested early on, before UW-Oshkosh (9-0) scored eight consecuitve points to take a 10-4 first quarter lead. Ripon (5-3) would battle back to take a 17-16 lead in the second quarter thanks to a 10-2 run that was keyed by six points from
Jonalee Elliott.
After that, it was all Titans, as UW-O scored 21 of the next 25 points to take a 16-point lead with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Titans coasted from there, outscoring the Red Hawks 24-6 in the fourth and final quarter to secure the victory.
Ripon had four players tie for the team lead in scoring, as Elliott,
Nicole Herkert,
Maggie Oimoen and
Megan Jensen each finished with six points. Herkert, Oimoen and
Emma McDonald each pulled down a team-best four rebounds.
UW-Oshkosh was led by Marissa Selner's double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds. Taylor Schmidt led the Titans in scoring with 11 points, while Alex Richard scored 10. Ashley Neustifter led all players with six assists.
