RIPON, Wis. - Ripon scored 90 points for the first time this season Wednesday night, en route to a 90-74 victory over Marian University in a game which saw the Red Hawks lead from start to finish. Ripon recorded season-highs in field goal percentage (.593), 3-point percentage (.625) and free throw percentage (.909), while also out-rebounding the Sabres 38-20, with 11 of their 38 rebounds coming on the offensive end of the floor.
The Red Hawks (6-4) showed a sign of things to come early on, as they scored the game's first 12 points, while holding Marian (4-7) scoreless for the first six minutes. Ripon's lead was cut to seven mid-way through the first half, but they would go on a 27-15 run to take their largest lead of 19 with one minute remaining, before taking a 50-36 lead into halftime.
The two teams traded baskets to begin the second half, before Marian cut the lead to nine with just under 12 minutes to play. That would be as close as the Sabres would get the rest of the night however, as
Jordan Stiede connected on a 3-pointer to give the Red Hawks a double digit lead and help them coast to victory.
Ty Sabin led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. That vaults Sabin into eighth place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,384 career points.
Ty Ketz added 15 points, with 13 of those coming in the first half, while making both of his 3-point attempts.
Brendan McCoy also chipped in with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Marian was led by Reggie Roemer's 19 points, while Josh Creed chipped in with 16 points and five rebounds. Connor Morovits and Carvell Oliver also scored in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively. The Sabres shot 50 percent (28-56) from the field and 38 percent (9-24) from 3-point range.
Ripon will be in action again on Saturday when they'll return to conference play at Knox College. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Galesburg, Ill. and can be seen live at
