GALESBURG, Ill. -,Ripon's 2015 season ended Saturday afternoon with a 91-79 loss at Knox College in a game that saw the Red Hawks turn the ball over 32 times, which Knox converted into 41 points. Ripon suffered the loss, despite shooting 40 percent (27-67) from the field and 67 percent (2-3) from 3-point range.
Knox (11-12, 9-9 MWC) never trailed in the game and built a 14-point lead just seven minutes into the contest. Ripon (2-21, 2-16 MWC) then went on a 15-4 run over the next three and a half minutes, capped by a
Mikayla Hartman jumper to cut Knox's lead to three. That lead would remain in single digits until the final minutes of the first half, when the Prairie Fire closed the half on a 16-2 run to take a 56-38 lead at the half.
The Red Hawks mounted a comeback in the second half, scoring 16 of the period's first 18 points to cut the Knox lead to four with 14 and a half minutes remaining. That lead stayed in single digits for the next several minutes, before the Prairie Fire took control down the stretch, going on a 17-3 run to go up by 20 and put the game out of reach.
Nicole Herkert led the Red Hawks with 17 points and nine rebounds, while
Meg Ryan poured in a career-high 14 points.
Jonalee Elliott also scored a career-high with 12 points, while adding five rebounds, two steals, and one blocked shot, giving her 26 blocks for the season, which is tied for fourth-most in a single season in school history.
Chelsea Moldenhauer added 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in her final collegiate game.
Knox was led by 24 points and five rebounds from Jessica Howard. Jodi Marver also filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Knox shot 34 percent (27-79) from the field and made 21 percent (8-39) of their 3-pointers, including just one of their 17 second half attempts.
