Red Hawks Fall To Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll defeated Ripon Wednesday, 68-46, scoring more than half of their points (36) off 28 Ripon turnovers. The Pioneers also outscored the Red Hawks in the paint, 34-18.

Carroll took command of the game early, scoring the first six points, but Ripon battled back to take their first and only lead on a Mikayla Hartman layup with six and a half minutes left in the half. Carroll then grabbed the lead back minutes later, and they would never trail again. The Pioneers ended the period on a 12-2 run to take a nine-point lead into the locker room.

The Pioneers continued to roll in the second half, beginning the period on a 17-4 run to take a 22-point advantage with 13 minutes to play. Carroll would lead by as many as 26, as they coasted to victory, shooting 57 percent (12-21) in the second half.

Ripon was led by team-highs of nine points and five rebounds from Nicole Herkert, while Megan Jensen scored eight points. Meg Ryan finished with a career-high six assists to lead the Red Hawks.

Corrine Engels led the Pioneers with 12 points, six assists, and four steals, while Rachel Van Sluys scored 11. Breann Maryanski led Carroll with a game-high nine rebounds, to go along with five points and four steals.,

The Red Hawks will try to get back on the winning track Saturday when they'll host Cornell College for Ripon's annual "Play For The Cure" game at 3 p.m. That will also be Alumni Day, with the women's alumni game taking place at 10:30 a.m.
