FOND DU LAC, Wis. - For the second time in eight days, Ripon's baseball team has lost to Marian University. The latest defeat came Wednesday by a score of 7-3 in a game that saw the teams combine for 20 hits.
Ripon (7-10) started the scoring with a run in the top of the second when 
Dakotah Kirchenwitz crossed the plate thanks to a passed ball. Ripon knotted the score up at one in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single. The Sabres then took their first lead of the contest with two runs in the third on an RBI double and a run-scoring single.
Marian (12-13) continued to add to their lead in the fourth scoring on a single, a double, and a sacrifice fly to take a 6-1 lead. The Red Hawks would add a run in the fifth when 
Jake Reinke scored on a Marian error, but the Sabres got that run back in the bottom of that inning.
Nate Siudak added an RBI single up the middle for the Red Hawks, but that would be all the runs they could manage.
The Red Hawks were led by 
Bradley Knoblock and 
Nick Uhen with two hits apiece.,Matt Hecht (0-4) started the game and took the loss, despite allowing just one earned run and striking out two in three innings of work.
Ripon will be in action again on Saturday when they'll host Beloit College for a doubleheader. The first game of that double-dip will begin at 1 p.m. at Francis Field in Ripon.
