STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Ripon volleyball team faced some stiff competition during Saturday's final day of the UW-Stevens Point Pointers Invitational Tournament, losing in four sets to Hamline, before falling to Concordia-Moorhead in three.
In their first match of the day, Ripon (2-7) won the first set, 25-21, but proceeded to lose the next three, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21, with both teams recording at least 10 kills in each set. Ripon, which finished with a higher team hitting percentage (.182-.167), were led by
Allison Barnes' 16 kills and nine digs.
Emily Gary added 12 kills and five digs.
Paige Buddenhagen led the team with three blocks (one solo), while also recording seven kills, and six digs.
Kendra Holte registered a team-best 24 digs, while
Abbi Williamson led the Red Hawks with 42 assists.
In Ripon's final match of the weekend, Concordia-Moorhead (5-1) won in straight sets, 25-14, 25-19, 25-20. Concordia recorded at least 11 kills in each set, while finishing the match with a hitting percentage of .216. The Red Hawks were led by Barnes' seven kills and four digs.
Katie Berrell added five kills, while Gary finished with four. Holte again led the team in digs, with 14, while Williamson recorded a team-high 18 assists.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll travel to UW-Oshkosh. That match will begin at 7 p.m. in Oshkosh, Wis.
