RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon, losing 6-1 to Lake Forest in both team's conference opener. The Foresters also outshot the Red Hawks by an 18-8 margin.
Lake Forest (5-1-0, 1-0-0 MWC) scored the game's first goal just 81 seconds into the contest when Finnian Bunta found the back of the net from the left side. Bunta added another goal in the 42nd minute on an assist from Gaston Aubert to give the Foresters a 2-0 halftime lead.
The second half brought more goals by Lake Forest, as Themis Mourikes got into the action five minutes into the period on an assist from Elyas Ingram. A Penalty Kick by John Cappuccitti in the 66th minute gave Lake Forest a 4-0 lead, before Ellis Rutili and Cesar Sandoval each added another goal. Ripon's only goal of the day came in the 74
th minute on
Nicholas Thillman's first of the season.
Ripon (3-1-1, 0-1-0) will try to rebound on Sunday when they'll host Beloit College. That game will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Prairie Field in Ripon.
