RIPON, Wis. - In a rematch of last year's Midwest Conference Championship game, Lake Forest defeated Ripon's women's soccer team 4-1 Saturday afternoon for their third win over the Red Hawks in the last two years. Lake Forest also held a 32-6 shot advantage.
The Foresters (4-2-1, 1-0-0 MWC) got on the board first, scoring the only goal of the first half in the 10
th minute when Michelle Greenway netted her first of three goals on the day.
The floodgates opened in the second half when Greenway gave Lake Forest some breathing room with her second and third goals of the game in the first eight minutes of the period. Ripon's Alyssa Kennedy would cut that lead to two with her fourth goal of the season in the 88
th minute thanks to an assist from Mikayla Huesman, but it would be too little too late.
Ripon Goal Keeper Morgan Smith played all 90 minutes for the Red Hawks (3-3-1, 0-1-0 MWC), making 13 saves. Her counterpart, Kaylee Price, also played the entire game for Lake Forest, saving two shots.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Sunday when they'll host Beloit College at Noon on Prairie Field in Ripon.
