RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon women's soccer team out-shot Bethany Lutheran 19-3 Saturday afternoon, en route to a 3-0 victory over the Vikings. The Red Hawks were especially dominant during a second half in which they held a shot advantage of 11-1.
Morgan Johnson gave Ripon the first lead of the game in the 26th minute, scoring her first goal of the season on an assist from
Hannah Mahr.
Alyssa Kennedy doubled Ripon's lead in the 41st minute, with her first goal of the season, on assists by Johnson and
Rachel Bautzmann.
Danielle Senger gave Ripon an insurance goal in the second half, scoring her first of the season in the 63rd minute.
"Today we picked up right where we left off against Northland," Head Coach Sam Schroeder said. "We were great in possession and were difficult to break down defensively."Morgan Smith earned her first career shutout in goal for the Red Hawks, recording two saves while playing all 90 minutes.
The Red Hawks will be in action again on Sunday when they'll host Benedictine (Ill.) University. That game will begin at 11 a.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
"I'm happy with our progression so far this year," Schroeder said. "We are better than we were yesterday and if that continues to be true as the days and games go by, I'll be a happy coach"Â
