GALESBURG, Ill. - The Ripon men's basketball team never trailed Saturday afternoon, en route to a 75-62 victory at Knox College. The Red Hawks shot 52 percent (27-52) in the game in what was a total team effort, with Ripon's bench outscoring Knox's reserves 41-16. All 11 Ripon players that appeared in the game scored at least two points.
The Red Hawks (7-4, 5-1 MWC) took the early lead as
Justin Leistikow and
Elliot Hoerdemann combined to score the game's first four points. Ripon's first double-digit lead came just six minutes into the contest when a
Cal Schultz three-point play gave them a 10-point advantage. They led by double digits for much of the first half, taking a 38-24 lead into halftime.
Ripon continued to lead by double digits until the seven minute mark of the second half when Knox (1-8, 0-4 MWC) cut the lead to eight, before eventually cutting it to five with five and a half minutes to play. Ripon would score the next six points however, to put the game out of reach, with four of those points coming from
Isaac Masters.
Ripon was led by
Ty Sabin's 18 points and six rebounds, while
Ty Ketz added 16 points and four assists off the bench. Masters chipped in with 10 points and three assists, while Schultz posted career-highs of nine points and four rebounds in just 11 minutes of action.
