Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Red Hawks Remain Unbeaten With Tie At St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. - One full month into the 2016 season, the Ripon College women's soccer team still has not lost a single game. They had their closest call to date Saturday afternoon, playing to a 1-1 tie against St. Norbert after two overtime periods could not decide a winner. The game was tight throughout, as evidenced by Ripon's shot advantage of 17-16.

Ranked sixth in the NCAA Division-III North Region entering the game, Ripon (10-0-1, 2-0-1 MWC) held St. Norbert (5-2-1, 2-1-1 MWC) scoreless for the first 34 minutes. Julia Schumacher then broke a scoreless tie with her first goal of the game on an assist from Monica Stephans, which marks just the fourth goal Ripon has allowed in their 11 games this season.

Ripon waited until the 69th minute to tie things up, doing so on Paige Birschbach's conference-leading 17th goal, assisted by Abbie Maule. That goal already ties Birschbach for the fifth-most single season goals in program history, and is just eight shy of the school record, with seven games left in the regular season. After that point in the game, the two teams played evenly, resulting in the tie.

Miye Aoki-Kramer played all 110 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks, recording 10 saves. Her counterpart, Maddie Plinska, also played the entire game, making 12 saves.

The Red Hawks will look to improve on their stellar record on Wednesday when they'll host Beloit College. That game will begin at 4 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
