RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawks won their fourth consecutive match Friday night with a four-set victory against Beloit College. Ripon won the first two sets, 25-16, 25-12. After losing the third (17-25), Ripon put an end the the match with a 25-14 victory in the fourth set, keeping the Red Hawks in second place in the Midwest Conference standings, just one and a half games out of first.
Ripon (15-6, 4-1 MWC) finished the match with a hitting percentage of .232, while holding Beloit (9-11, 0-5 MWC) to a .116 hitting percentage. The Red Hawks played from ahead most of the night, as there were only two lead changes in the entire match. Ripon recorded double-digit kills in each set, recording at least 13 kills in each frame.
Kat Kulas led the Red Hawks with 15 kills, while also posting a hitting percentage of .591.
Katie Berrell added 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .250, while
Paige Buddenhagen had 11 kills.
Abbi Williamson led all players with 37 assists, which was one more than Beloit recorded as a team. Williamson and Berrell also led Ripon in service aces with two apiece.
Stacie Klika led the defensive effort for the Red Hawks with 22 digs.
Beloit was led by Chloe Fleming and Taylor Lewis, who each finished with nine kills. Paige Wimbrow tallied a team-best 19 assists, while Fleming led the Buccaneers in digs with 16.
The Red Hawks won't have much time to savor this victory, as they'll travel to Lawrence University on Saturday. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Appleton, Wis. and will feature two of the top four teams in the MWC. The match can be seen live atÂ
