GALESBURG, Ill. - After losing their last two matches, the Ripon volleyball team returned to their winning ways with a three-set victory over Knox College on Saturday afternoon to remain very much in the thick of the race for a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament. The Red Hawks defeated the Prairie Fire 25-17 in the first set, before winning the next two 25-19 and 25-16.
Ripon (16-8, 5-3 MWC) recorded at least 12 kills in all three sets. They were led by
Katie Berrell and
Kat Kulas, whom each recorded 10 kills.
Abbi Williamson led the Red Hawks in both assists (34) and digs (11), while Kulas recorded a team-high three block solos.
Knox (5-19, 2-5 MWC) was led by Rose Griffin's 10 kills, while Rachael Powell recorded a team-high 17 assists. Jakeiyah Triplett finished with 19 digs to lead the Prairie Fire.
The Red Hawks will try to keep their winning ways going on Wednesday when they'll host St. Norbert College. That match will begin at 7 p.m. at Wyman Gymnasium in Ripon.
