RIPON, Wis. - Ripon lost to #23 UW-Oshkosh Tuesday night, falling in three sets (17-25, 18-25, 13-25). The Red Hawks recorded 23 kills, compared to the Titans, which finished with 43 kills and a .286 hitting percentage.
Ripon (6-3) held their own early on, leading 9-5 in the first set, which featured four ties and two lead changes, but UW-Oshkosh (9-2) proved to be too much. The Titans recorded double-digit kills in each set, while Ripon recorded their most kills (10) in the second set.
Katie Berrell and
Kat Kulas led Ripon with six kills apiece, while
Paige Buddenhagen added five.
Stacie Klika added a team-high nine digs, while
Abbi Williamson finished with 21 assists and one service ace.
UW-Oshkosh's Tina Elstner led the Titans with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .476, while Samantha Jaeke finished with seven kills. Elstner and Laura Trochinski each posted a team-high six digs, while Lexi Thiel finished with a match-high 23 assists. UW-O recorded 13 total team blocks, with Jaeke leading the way with five (one solo).
The Red Hawks will try to get back on the winning track this weekend when they'll host the 2016 Red Hawks Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Ripon will play St. Catherine and the University of Dubuque on Friday at 3 and 7 p.m., respectively at Wyman Gymnasium in Ripon.
