RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon volleyball team had a mixed bag of results during Saturday's second and final day of the Red Hawks Invitational. They began the day with a three set victory against Alverno College, winning 25-18, 25-13, 32-30, before dropping their only other match to Saint Mary's (Minn.) in four sets (17-25, 19-25, 25-20, 23-25).
Against Alverno (2-13), Ripon dominated the first two sets before the third set saw 21 ties and seven lead changes before Ripon finished it off with the victory.
Kaylie Marks and
Sydney Radandt led the way with nine kills apiece, while
Paige Buddenhagen and
Katie Berrell finished with eight and four, respectively. Radandt also recorded an exceptional hitting percentage of .692, while posting three blocks (one solo).
Maddie Koster recorded a match-high 13 digs, with
Olivia Heck leading the way in both assists (18) and service aces (3).
In the day's second match, Ripon faced a tough Saint Mary's (Minn.) squad. Berrell led the way with 16 kills, while Buddenhagen registered nine kills. Koster again recorded a match-high in digs with 27, while
Abbi Williamson posted 32 assists, as she was named to the All-Tournament Team. Saint Mary's (13-1) was the only team in the tournament without a loss, while they were the only blemish on Ripon's Tournament record.
Ripon (9-4) will be in action again next weekend when they'll take part in teh North Central (Ill.) Triangular. The Red Hawks will play North Central (Ill.) at 11 a.m., before taking on Illinois Tech at 1 p.m. LiveStats for both matches can be followed atÂ
