Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Red Hawks Drop Conference Opener

RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon men's soccer team didn't get off to the start to the conference season that they had hoped for, losing to Monmouth College Saturday by a score of 4-0. Monmouth scored twice in each half, while out-shooting the Red Hawks 22-11.

Monmouth (2-4-1, 2-0-0 MWC) got out to an early lead and never looked back, thanks to Justin Seeley, who scored his first two goals of the season in the first half. The first came unassisted in the 25th minute, while his second came in the 31st minute thanks to an assist from Daniel Wells.

The Fighting Scots took a 3-0 lead in the 54th minute on Martin Zafirov's second goal of the year, assisted on a cross by Agustin Miranda. Cadan Glattback capped the scoring with his first of the season in the 82nd minute, with the assist going to Brad Dufee.

Jimmy Amedeo played all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper for Ripon (3-4-0, 0-1-0 MWC), making 12 saves. His counterpart, Chase Stroud also played the entire game, recording six saves.

Ripon will try to rebound on Sunday when they'll host Cornell College. That game will begin at 1 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
