RIPON, Wis. - Ripon improved their program-best start to a season to 10-0 Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 win against Finlandia University, which marks the seventh-highest single game goal total in program history. Ripon's 10-game winning streak is currently the second-longest in Division-III. Ranked sixth in the latest Division-III North Region Rankings, Ripon out-shot Finlandia 44-0 in the game, including a 25-0 advantage in the first half.
It didn't take long for the Red Hawks to get on the board, as
Morgan Johnson netted her third goal of the season in the sixth minute thanks to assists from
Paige Pierce and
Kaylee Tadych. Thirty-two seconds later, Ripon scored again when
Stephanie Neumann notched her first collegiate goal on an assist from
Abbie Maule.
Paige Birschbach would give the Red Hawks a 3-0 lead on a Penalty Kick in the 14th minute, her 16th goal of the season, which is tied for first in Division-III.
Kaylee Tadych then got into the scoring action in the 28th minute with her ninth of the season, asssited by
Kate Kabacinski.
Shelbi Buettner and
Becky Schwindt also scored in the first half, both receiving assists from Blaney to give Ripon a 6-0 lead at the half.
The second half saw Ripon extend their lead when Blaney scored her second goal of the year on an assist from Buettner in the 47th minute.
Cheyenne Rickerman added to Ripon's total in the 64th minute with her first collegiate goal via Penalty Kick. The scoring was capped in the 70th minute when Kabacinski scored for the first time as a Red Hawk on Blaney's third assist fo the contest.
Ripon will now prepare for a big conference game on Saturday against St. Norbert. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will take place at West De Pere High School in De Pere, Wis.
