Red Hawks Continue To Roll

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team earned their second convincing victory in a three-day span Saturday afternoon, defeating Maranatha Baptist 5-0 in what was Ripon's 2016 home opener.

Much like their first game of the year, Ripon's second game was guided by the foot of Paige Birschbach, who recorded her second hat trick in as many games, giving her six for her career, which ties a school record. That also gives Birschbach 33 career goals, which moves her into a tie for third place in program history.

Birschbach's first goal came in the 10th minute into the lower left corner of the goal, with Hannah Mahr credited with the assist. She added her second in the 32nd minute thanks to a Kaylee Tadych assist, giving Ripon a 2-0 halftime lead.

Birschbach continued to score in the second half, completing her hat trick with a goal in the 58th minute, beating two defenders to score in the lower right side of the net. Ripon's other two goals came from Tadych, with Birschbach assisting on both scores. That gives Birschbach 22 career assists, which moves her into a second-place tie in the history of the program.

Miye Aoki-Kramer earned the win at Goal Keeper, recording one save in her 65 and a half minutes, before Diana Meredith and Jacie Verstegen also saw time at the position.

In what was a dominating performance from start to finish, Ripon (2-0) out-shot Maranatha Baptist (0-2) by a 30-1 margin.
