Ripon Defeats MSOE In Three Sets

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - For the second time in three years, the Ripon College volleyball team has won their first four matches of the season. The Red Hawks moved to 4-0 in 2016 after disposing of MSOE in three sets Thursday night, 25-18, 25-16, 25-18. That marks the 11th consecutive set Ripon has won, dating back to their first match of the year.

Ripon recorded a hitting percentage of .214, while holding MSOE to a .035 hitting percentage. The match featured eight ties and three lead changes, but the Red Hawks took control of the third set, leading from start to finish.

Katie Berrell led Ripon with a match-high 14 kills, to go along with a hitting percentage of .419. Paige Buddenhagen added nine kills, while Kat Kulas had five. Maddie Koster led the Red Hawks defensive effort with 17 digs, while Sydney Radandt posted three blocks (one solo). Abbi Williamson was also a big contributor with 26 assists and 14 digs.

Hannah Pekarek and Elsey Kohlman led MSOE (0-1) with five kills apiece. Sarabeth Haworth added a team-high 13 digs, while Abby Born posted 14 assists.

The Red Hawks will try to improve to 5-0 on Friday when they'll take part in day one of the UW-Stevens Point Invitational against Aurora and Bethel (Minn.) at 2 and 6 p.m., respectively.
