Ripon Can't Get Past Marian

RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon women's tennis team lost their second match in three days Thursday afternoon, falling to Marian University, 9-0 in what was a much closer contest than the final score indicated. Four of the six singles matches went the full three sets, while Marian outscored Ripon in their three doubles victories, 24-11.

In singles play, Maddie VandenHouten, Samantha Kiesner, and Madeline Salzer each won their first set at the number one, three, and five flights, respectively, only to see Marian take the next two at each flight.

In doubles play, Kiesner and Carly Wesner put up the biggest fight, before falling 8-5 at the number two doubles match.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on Saturday when they'll travel south to play at Knox and Monmouth at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
