Illinois College Gets By Red Hawks

RIPON, Wis. - With two goals in each half, Illinois College's men's soccer team defeated Ripon Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-1. The Blueboys also out-shot Ripon by a 12-6 margin.

Illinois College (7-6-1, 2-2-1 MWC) didn't waste any time getting on the board, as they scored the game's first goal just one and a half minutes into the contest on Nick Copley's third goal of the season. Ryan Kruger added a goal later in the half to give Illinois College a 2-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Blueboys continued to control the tempo, scoring on a Bohlt Hamrick goal in the 62nd minute and a Thomas Saitta goal, his third of the year, in the 79th minute. Ripon's only goal of the contest came in the 81st minute when Max Mindiola capped the scoring with his first of the season on an assist from Carson Teske.

Jimmy Amedeo played the entire game at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks (2-11-2, 0-5-1 MWC), making eight saves. Ty Clearwater and Raul Rubalcava combined to save four shots for Illinois College.

Ripon will be in action again on Sunday when they'll host Knox College. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon, Wis. and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/, barring any inclement weather.
