Box Score PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Ripon stepped outside of conference play Wednesday night, losing to UW-Platteville by a score of 3-0. The Red Hawks were also out-shot by a 19-3 margin.
UW-Platteville (7-8) got the scoring started in the 32nd minute on Anna Sobel's 12th goal of the season, assisted by Bianca Mahoney. Neither team would score again until the second half when Amber Lueder's four goal of the season gave UW-Platteville a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute. The Pioneers capped the scoring in the 83rd minute on Taylor Martin's second goal of the season.
"Despite the score, I was encouraged by our performance," Ripon Head Coach
Greg Ruark said. "While we didn't create enough chances, we did a decent job of connecting and moving the ball around."
Miye Aoki-Kramer made four saves in 90 minutes of work for Ripon (9-5). UW-Platteville's Alyssa Sickler saved three shots, while also playing all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper.
The Red Hawks, who currently stand in sixth place in the Midwest Conference standings, will resume conference play on Saturday when they'll travel to Grinnell College, who is in fourth place, just one game ahead of Ripon. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Grinnell, Iowa and can be seen live atÂ
