RIPON, Wis. - Less than 24 hours after losing to conference-leading Cornell College, Ripon's volleyball team rebounded with a four-set victory against Knox to remain very much in the thick of the race for a spot in the 2017 Midwest Conference Tournament. The Red Hawks lost the first set to Knox 22-25, before winning the next three, 25-23, 25-15, 25-14 to position themselves in a third-place tie in the MWC standings.
Ripon (10-15, 5-3 MWC) posted a hitting percentage of .231 against Knox, while finishing the match with 57 kills. The Prairie Fire (10-17, 0-8 MWC) tallied 41 kills and a hitting percentage of .110.
Jonalee Elliott led the Red Hawks with a career-high 19 kills, to go along with a hitting percentage of .436, which is the third time this season that she's finished with a hitting percentage of at least .400 in a match.
Brooke Bauer added 13 kills and three blocks, while
Kylie Tomashek posted 10 kills.
Emily Allard led the team in digs with 15, in addition to nine kills, 21 assists, and a hitting percentage of .333.
Olivia Heck led the team with 28 assists, while
Kendra Holte posted a match-high five service aces, to go along with 14 digs.
Knox was led by Rose Griffin's nine kills, while Jeanette Peebles and Natalie Weldon each finished with seven kills. Kaitlyn Haase led the Prairie Fire in assists (24), while Kyleigh Guthals paced the team in digs (20).
Ripon will be in action again on Friday at 7 p.m. against Lake Forest College in their 2017 regular season finale, which will also also serve as Ripon's Senior Night, honoring Elliott and
Kat Kulas, as well as 'Wicked In Willmore' in which all fans are asked to wear their most creative Halloween costume to be entered into a contest for great prizes. The Red Hawks will also have the opportunity to clinch a spot in the MWC Tournament that night. That match can be seen live atÂ
