Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Red Hawks Prove Too Much To Handle For Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team just keeps on winning. The Red Hawks defeated Lawrence 64-38 Tuesday night for their eighth  consecutive victory. The win also marks their second victory over Lawrence in the last week, which is their 20th consecutive win against the Vikings.

Ripon (16-6, 14-3 MWC) never trailed in Tuesday's game, shooting 45 percent (22-49) from the field, while also converting 91 percent (19-21) of their free throws. The Red Hawks defense was stifling the entire game, holding Lawrence (2-20, 0-17 MWC) to just 24 percent (10-42) shooting, while limiting the Vikings to less than 10 points in each of the first three quarters. Ripon also held the rebounding edge, 43-20, with 15 of their rebounds coming on the offensive end.

Thirty-four of Ripon's points came in the paint, thanks in large part to Maggie Oimoen, who scored 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting, despite playing just 14 minutes. Eleanore Mueller added 11 points and nine rebounds, converting all three of her shots and five of her six free throws.

Lawrence was led by Aubrey Scott's 10 points and four rebounds off the bench. Olivia Hoesley added nine points, two assists, and two steals for the Vikings.

The win gives Ripon its ninth-highest win total in program history, while its 12 conference wins are the program's most since the 2009-10 season. The Red Hawks will try to add to their win total Saturday when they'll travel to Knox College in what will be Ripon's final tune-up for the MWC Tournament. Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. in Galesburg, Ill.
