RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's baseball team lost to Concordia (Wis.) Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 10-1 in a game that saw the Falcons out-hit the Red Hawks 11-4.
Concordia (16-8) wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. The Falcons added three more runs in the second frame, before Nathan Thyssen hit an inside-the-park home run in the third to give Concordia a 7-0 lead.
Ripon's pitching staff settled down after the third, but Concordia still managed to push two runs across in the fifth and another in the eighth. The Red Hawks' lone run came in the bottom of the eighth when
David La Tour scored on a groundout by
Robbie Schuettpelz.
Ripon's four hits in the game came from La Tour, Schuettpelz,
Josh Oswald, and
Brice Swick. Concordia had four players finish with a multi-hit game.
The Red Hawks (5-19) will be in action again Friday in the first game of the three-day Midwest Conference Baseball Crossover when they'll play Monmouth College. That game will begin at 7 p.m. at Woodside Complex in Mauston, Wis. with LiveStats available at
