DE PERE, Wis. - Ripon lost both games of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at St. Norbert College, losing each by a score of 4-0, with seven of the day's eight runs coming in the sixth inning.
All four of the runs in the day's first game came in that sixth inning as St. Norbert (7-9, 5-1 MWC) broke a scoreless tie thanks to a Ripon fielding error. The other three runs in the inning all came on a double. Ripon (4-12, 0-2 MWC) attempted to rally in the final inning, but they would leave two runners on base as the game ended.
Ripon out-hit SNC 5-4, with two of those hits coming off the bat of
Ashley Parkkonen.
Lexi Reetz suffered the loss despite allowing zero earned runs and striking out four in six innings.
In the day's second game, the scoreless tie lasted until the bottom of the fifth when St. Norbert recorded a two-out RBI double. The Green Knights added three more runs on three hits in the sixth, recording a two-run double and a sac fly to cap the scoring.
Ripon's four hits in the game came from Parkkonen,
Julia Sanchez,
Rebeccah Jones, and
Emily Kollmann. Reetz (3-7) pitched her second complete game of the day, allowing three earned runs in six innings of work.
