Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Red Hawks Suffer First Loss of the Season

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team lost to UW-Stevens Point Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-0, marking their first loss in the month of September in two years. The Red Hawks, who are ranked 10th in the North Region, were also out-shot 23-6 by the Pointers, who have allowed just two goals through seven games this season.

UW-Stevens Point (5-2) got on the board early thanks to Francesca Hamilton's sixth goal of the season on an assist from Maddy Hardyman in the 13th minute. The score would remain 1-0 until the 72nd minute when Hardyman scored unassisted for her fifth goal of the season. Amanda Maestas added an insurance goal later in the half to cap the scoring.

"UW-Stevens Point created problems for us fairly early and we struggled to match their strength, quickness, and speed," Ripon Head Coach Greg Ruark said. "We were better in the second half, but were unable to generate clear cut chances."

Miye Aoki-Kramer played the entire game in goal for Ripon (6-1), making eight saves. UW-Stevens Point saw Goal Keeper Sarah Peplinski save four shots, while also playing all 90 minutes.

The Red Hawks will try to rebound on Saturday when they'll open conference play at Monmouth. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Monmouth, Ill., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
