MONMOUTH, Ill. - Ripon's men's soccer team opened their 2017 conference season Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss at Monmouth College. The Red Hawks were also out-shot 21-1.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie at halftime, as neither squad could muster any scoring. That changed just two and a half minutes into the second half when Agustin Miranda gave Mommouth (2-6-0, 1-0-0 MWC) the lead on a Penalty Kick. The score would remain 1-0 until the 78th minute when Cadan Glattback doubled the Fighting Scots' lead thanks to assists from Connor Oltman and Jack Ressler. Miranda added an insurance goal in the final minutes to cap the scoring.

Ripon (2-6-1, 0-1-0 MWC) will try to rebound on Sunday when they'll travel to Cornell College. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/index.htm.
