RIPON, Wis. - St. Norbert defeated Ripon 5-2 Saturday afternoon thanks to four first half goals. The Green Knights also out-shot the Red Hawks by a 23-7 margin, including 15-4 in the opening period.
Marco Delbechhi broke a scoreless tie for the Green Knights (7-3-1, 3-0-0 MWC)Â in the 10th minute on his first goal of the season. Two minutes later, the MWC's leading scorer, Ben Prange, gave SNC a 2-0 lead on a Penalty Kick for his eighth goal of the season. Ripon (2-8-1, 0-3-0 MWC) cut that lead in half in the 14th minute on
Grant Grywalsky's team-leading third goal of the season. St. Norbert would open up the game just before halftime with goals by Logan Block and Drew Checolinski in the final two minutes of the first period.
St. Norbert took a 5-1 lead in the 75th minute on Luis Jorgensen's first goal of the season.
Christian Martinez scored Ripon's only other goal with just one second remaining, but it was too little, too late, as the result had already been decided.
