Ripon Loses Non-Conference Battle To Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Ripon fell behind early Thursday night, before ultimately losing to the University of Dubuque by a score of 3-1. Dubuque also held a shot advantage of 25-5, including 16-1 in the first half.

Dubuque (11-2-1) got on the board first in the 15th minute when Natalie Dienstbach scored on assists fro mMcKenna Young and Alexa Martin. The Spartans added to their lead later in the first half when Lauren Cangelosi scored in the 33rd minute on an assist from Lexus Rose that bounced off the Goal Keeper, giving UD a 2-0 halftime lead.

Ripon (5-6-1) scored their first and only goal in the 59th minute with Maeve Kim doing the honors, scoring on a rebound with the assist going to Paige Pierce. Dubuque would get that goal back later in the half on Cangelosi's second goal of the game to cap the scoring.

Ripon Goal Keepers Miye Aoki-Kramer and Stefani Zeiger combined for 11 saves, with each playing one half of the game. Dubuque Goal Keeper Victoria Roethler played all 90 minutes, making two saves.

The Red Hawks will jump back into conference play on Saturday when they'll host Grinnell College at 1:30 p.m. That game will be played at Prairie Field in Ripon and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
