Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Grinnell Pulls Away In The Second Half

RIPON, Wis. - Playing in their first game in nine days, Ripon's men's soccer team lost to Grinnell College on Saturday by a score of 4-1. The Red Hawks kept the game close early, trailing 1-0 at halftime, but three second half goals by Grinnell in the second half proved to be the difference.

Grinnell (6-5-0, 3-2-0 MWC) didn't waste much time getting on the board, as the broke a scoreless tie just five minutes into the contest on a header by Ray Goedeker for his fourth goal of the season thanks to an assist from Noah Fluharty.

Neither team scored again until the 59th minute when Caleb Ritter's third goal of the season doubled Grinnell's lead. The Pioneers added two more goals by Zach Steinberg and Mikoto Kobayashi to take a commanding 4-0 lead with 12 and a half minutes remaining. Ripon's only goal of the contest came in the 80th minute on Christian Martinez's second goal of the season.

Cole Jurish played the entire game at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks, making 11 saves. Grinnell's Jared Cloutier and Ben Heller combined for three saves on the day.

Ripon will be back in action on Sunday when they'll host Cornell College at Prairie Field. That game will begin at 11 a.m., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
