RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon College women's soccer team defeated Cornell 2-0 Sunday afternoon behind a pair of goals by Sophomore
Camrie Schmitz. The Red Hawks also held a shot advantage of 19-12.
Schmitz's first goal came in the 19th minute on an assist from
Paige Pierce. The two teams were then locked in a defensive battle until Schmitz scored again in the 68th minute on an assist by
Maeve Kim, giving her nine goals on the season, which ranks second on the team.
Miye Aoki-Kramer played the entire game at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks, making nine saves. The win also marks her second shutout of the season and eighth of her career, which is tied for third in program history. Goal Keepers Nicole Trenholm and Elise Thomason-Larsen combined to save 12 shots for Cornell (5-9-1, 4-2-0 MWC).
With the win, Ripon (6-6-1, 4-2-0 MWC) moves into a tie for second place in the Midwest Conference, just one game behind conference-leader Knox. The Red Hawks will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll host St. Norbert College at Prairie Field in Ripon. That game can be seen live atÂ
