Ripon Leads From Start To Finish In Win Over Lawrence

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team scored the first four points of Tuesday's game against Lawrence University and never looked back, earning a 63-47 victory. The Red Hawks shot 43 percent (26-61) from the field on the day, while holding Lawrence to just 31 percent (15-49) shooting. Ripon also out-scored Lawrence in the paint by a 34-10 margin.

Ripon (16-7, 13-2 MWC) built a 15-6 lead after one quarter of play, and led 36-26 at intermission. The Red Hawks continued to hold Lawrence at arms length in the second half, never leading by less than five points. Entering the fourth quarter with a nine-point lead, Ripon outscored the Vikings 15-8 in that final period to earn the victory.

The Red Hawks were led by Emma McDonald's 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range, as she continues to add to her school record for both career and single season 3-pointers. Maggie Oimoen added 14 points and seven rebounds (three offensive), as she moved up to 14th on Ripon's career scoring list with 866 career points. Alyassa Burgess added a career-high 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting in 15 minutes off the bench, while also pulling down five rebounds.

Lawrence (7-17, 5-10 MWC) was led by Kenya Earl's 22 points on 5-of-9 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds and two assists. Leah Reeves added 12 points and four rebounds for the Vikings.

Ripon enters Saturday's final game of the regular season in a tie for first place with Cornell atop the Midwest Conference standings. Saturday's game against Knox will serve as a final tune-up before the MWC Tournament, and could be a preview of a potential postseason match-up. That game will begin at 3 p.m. in Ripon and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/. Saturday's game will also serve as Senior Day in which Ripon will honor its five seniors, Renate Barker, Mikayla Hartman, Eleanore Mueller, Jonalee Elliott, and Emma McDonald.
