CHICAGO, Ill. - In a game that never seemed to end, the Ripon men's soccer team opened their 2018 season Friday night with a 2-0 loss at Illinois Tech. The game lasted four hours and seven minutes, thanks in large part to a one hour and 52 minute weather delay.

Illinois Tech (1-0) got the scoring started in the 10th minute of the first half when Quintin Drelich scored on a Penalty Kick to the upper right corner of the net. The only other goal of the game came in the 62nd minute when Illinois Tech doubled their lead on a Conner Shaw goal, which was assisted by Jacob Westerhoff.

Illinois Tech out-shot Ripon 24-6, including 12-1 in the first half. Ripon Goal Keeper Cole Jurish played all 90 minutes, recording four saves, while Alex Kern made one save in his 90 minutes of work for Illinois Tech.

Ripon (0-1) will try to rebound on Sunday when they're scheduled to host Rockford University. That game will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon, and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
