MONMOUTH, Ill. - The Ripon College women's tennis team won their third match in a two-day span Sunday morning, defeating Monmouth College 5-4 in a match that wasn't decided until the final singles match was over.
Ripon (5-2, 4-2 MWC) won one of their three doubles matches, with
Samantha Kiesner and
Hannah Ryback teaming up at the top flight for an 8-4 victory. In singles play, Ryback won at the top spot by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, while Kiesner won at the number two position (6-4, 6-3).
Morgan Makar and
Carly Wesner also won their singles matches at the number four and six flights, respectively.
"This was another great accomplishment to get this win without our number one
Brianna Bembenek," Ripon Head Coach
Rob Oertel said. "This match made all the girls better players and will benefit us greatly in our upcoming matches."
The Red Hawks will hope to continue their winning ways on Wednesday when they'll travel to Dominican (Ill.) That match will begin at 4 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
